Synertec Corporation Ltd (ASX:SOP)Ltd has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global battery manufacturer Ritar International Group to accelerate the commercialisation of its renewable energy microgrid platform, Powerhouse.
Synertec managing director Michael Carroll said: “Our extensive research and exploration worldwide, led us to partner with Ritar.
Unique characteristics
“We believe their batteries and other products provide several unique characteristics which are important to Powerhouse, including their ability to operate under high ambient temperatures, withstand deep discharges, excellent cycle life, fully recyclable and non-combustible, eliminating the risk of thermal runaway currently plaguing more conventional lithium-based battery energy storage systems.
“Importantly to Synertec, Ritar have invested heavily since inception in their research, manufacturing and quality processes, which we have seen first-hand, ensuring the excellence we require for Powerhouse.
“This includes the ability to produce rapidly and repeatably at large scale. As a result, we expect that their facilities will enable Synertec to deliver high quantities of factory-tested Powerhouse units within a very short lead time, enabling the potential for Synertec to deliver hundreds of units annually.”
The 12-month MoU will support integration of Ritar’s advanced OPzV solid-state battery technology into Powerhouse and streamline manufacturing processes to enable production of one unit per day.
The collaboration is expected to reduce costs by 30% to 60% and deliver hundreds of units annually.
Powerhouse is designed to provide AI-driven, fully renewable energy solutions for remote and off-grid locations.
The agreement with Ritar is intended to increase scale and speed to market, particularly in sectors such as energy and resources where robust, uninterrupted and low-maintenance power is critical.
The timing of the agreement aligns with broader energy transition policies in Australia, including recent Queensland government initiatives supporting new gas exploration across major onshore basins.
Synertec sees Powerhouse as a viable alternative to traditional energy systems in these areas, capable of reducing emissions and operational costs.
Beyond gas and resource operations, Synertec has also identified broader applications for Powerhouse, including utility-scale power supply, grid-firming services, remote stand-alone systems and data centre infrastructure.
Leading global battery producer
Ritar, established in 2002, is a leading global battery producer with annual revenues of around A$2 billion and over 6,500 employees.
The group operates multiple international production and logistics centres and is known for its focus on safety, reliability and scalable energy storage technologies.
Under the MoU, Synertec and Ritar will also explore long-term commercial supply agreements covering components and fabrication.
The collaboration is expected to lead to further innovations that enhance the performance and cost-efficiency of Powerhouse in industrial and critical infrastructure markets.
